Alcatel, part of the TCL Group, has today announced the launch of its ‘Try For A Million’ promotion that will give fans the chance to win one million dollars for each Rabbitohs home game. The promotion challenges fans to predict the exact number and sequence of tries scored by specific players, which can be entered prior to each home game via via the Rabbitohs App! Download iOS or Android and tap Game Day!
Entry each round is free of charge with Members and fans having the chance to win up to $1 million across all Rabbitohs home games across the 2019 season.
The promotion is limited to the first 5000 entrants for each of South Sydney’s 12 home games of the season, and will premiere at this Sunday’s match against the Gold Coast Titans, with each person only allowed one entry. Full terms and conditions are available via the website.
'Try For A Million’ delivers on Alcatel’s commitment to take the fan experience to new levels through its brand partnerships, with this promotion set to take fan engagement to new levels, not to mention the life-changing prize on offer should a fan successfully predict the try scorers in sequence for the match.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs will heavily promote the competition in the lead up to each of its home games via its website, and integrate the progress of the competition in its social media activity for each game.
This latest leveraging of this sponsorship comes off the back of Alcatel elevating its investment with the South Sydney Rabbitohs, where its brand is front of jersey for all away games for the 2019 and 2020 NRL seasons. This season marks the brand’s eighth year of partnership with the Club.
Alcatel’s parent company, TCL, will also activate with the South Sydney Rabbitohs for the very first time, with a TCL prize pack consisting of the very latest TCL Television, tablet and smartphone being awarded each week to a participating fan should the major prize not be won.
Alcatel continues to grow in the Australian market, maintaining its number 3 position by volume for more than three years. In 2018 alone, Alcatel sold close to one million devices to deliver a record result locally, including smartphones and tablets, each priced under $200 while still delivering innovative features at an affordable outright price point.
“We are committed to adding value and excitement to people’s lives through access to affordable technology, so our partnerships are focused on bringing this to life,” said Sam Skontos, VP and Regional Managing Director, South East Asia & Pacific, for Alcatel.
“With our ‘Try For A Million’ promotion we are adding another layer of excitement to the game-day experience for both South Sydney fans and NRL fans more broadly.
“Engaging with Australian sports fans is something we have done for close to a decade, but this is by far the biggest and most exciting activation we have launched and are proud to be doing so in conjunction with the South Sydney Rabbitohs.”
Rabbitohs CEO, Blake Solly, said: “Alcatel are a wonderful example of a sponsor always looking to try new ideas that will add to the fan’s overall experience, and the ‘Try For A Million’ promotion really epitomises this philosophy.
“Their passion for bringing the game even closer to the fans is authentic and we are delighted to be partnering with them on a promotion that could very genuinely change someone’s life if they were to be successful in their weekly prediction.
“Our Members and fans are delighted that we have partners such as Alcatel looking at different ways to take the excitement of our wonderful game to another level.”
South Sydney is one of the most storied clubs in the National Rugby League, with 21 Premierships including the most recent success in 2014. They enjoy a passionate fan base of over one million people, a total social media reach of around 700,000, a current Membership base of 28,500 that is expected to exceed 30,000 in 2019, with the Rabbitohs regularly playing in the coveted primetime broadcast times across the season.
Sponsorships across sport and lifestyle properties have been a key strategy to drive awareness of the Alcatel brand in Australia, most especially since its brand relaunch in 2016. In addition to a long relationship with the Rabbitohs, Alcatel are the Official Smartphone partner of Liverpool FC in Australia and New Zealand, as well as naming rights of the Your Shot DJ competition held annually across Australia.
