The Four Pointer - Four things to look out for in Rd23

The South Sydney Rabbitohs take on the Brisbane Broncos in Round 23 in what is sure to be an instant classic at Suncorp Stadium.

It's a massive encounter with the Rabbitohs chasing the minor premiership and the Broncos holding onto the final spot in the top eight.

With both sides gunning for the two points, check out four key points that could be a deciding factor in the outcome of this gruelling matchup.

Rabbitohs new-look backline

They were thrown together last week due to an early injury to fullback Alex Johnston but the South Sydney Rabbitohs new-look backline took no time to gel and are ready to step it up again tomorrow night.

With Johnston, captain Greg Inglis, Campbell Graham, Robert Jennings and Adam Doueihi all on the sidelines, only Dane Gagai remains from Head Coach Anthony Seibold's first choice backline but after a strong performance last week he'll be confident his new selections can get the job done.

One of the bulkiest outside back combinations, both Kennar and Fuimaono will offer a lot going forward and pose a huge threat close to the line with their size.

And on the left-hand side is the flair pairing of both Braidon Burns and Hymel Hunt. The two are both excellent finishers and have shown already that they have the chemistry to form a dangerous partnership, as shown last week with an audacious try against the Roosters.

Rabbitohs out for revenge

The Rabbitohs will no doubt be extra fired up for this match as they come against Broncos whom they lost to back in Round 8.

In a game that got away from the Red and Green, the Queensland outfit ran away with a 20-24 victory at ANZ Stadium.

The Rabbitohs will be looking to return the favour and put themselves back on the front foot.

Rabbitohs look to preserve record

Since Round two of the season, the Rabbitohs haven't lost back-to-back matches in 2018.

Young gun Cameron Murray said during midweek press that it's a record that the team try to uphold and one they will definitely try to preserve on tonight.

Week to week mentality continues

Despite the speculation and constant questions regarding futures, the happenings outside the Club and the finals, both players and coaches have continued to keep their focus solely on themselves.

With so much happening around them the Rabbitohs have blocked out the outside noise ahead of an important clash.

Anthony Seibold

"Certainly we've put ourselves in a good position we understand where we sit on the table there's no doubt about that, we're aware that we're in the top four its been a goal of ours since preseason we've put ourselves in a position to be there, we're in charge our own destiny."
