After a two-try performance against Cabramatta on Saturday, back rower Nikitah Wilson was thrilled with the way her teammates pulled together to maintain their perfect start to the season.
In their closest match by far this season, the Rabbitohs were pushed all the way by Cabramatta but the Red and Green held their nerve right until the very end, which Wilson was pleased with.
“It was a tough game but we stuck it out, “ said Wilson.
“Especially with some our players away we really pulled together and the result showed that in the end.”
It was a slow first half for the Rabbitohs women and Wilson and her teammates were well aware of what was to come from Coach Danny Allende in the sheds.
“We definitely did!" Wilson laughed
"We knew that as soon as we were going into the sheds."
Wilson's double proved to be the difference between the two sides, however, the forward credited her two-try haul to a great team spirit that is pulsing through the Rabbitohs camp right now.
“Communication and holding the ball were key,” Wilson explained.
“They were the two big things we needed to get right and in the end, it won us the game”
It was a tough game that tested the Rabbitohs strength and depth but in the end proved to be a fruitful result and Wilson believes it’s a game that can only make the team better.
“Definitely, there are a few things to work on in training next week but we have all learnt from it and we will use to keep moving forward throughout the season.”
