Burgess hit with two-game ban after appeal

Sam Burgess will miss the South Sydney Rabbitohs’ next two games after being found guilty of a grade one dangerous contact charge at the NRL Judiciary tonight (Tuesday).

Burgess entered a not guilty plea after being charged for a tackle on Bulldogs centre Josh Morris in the 57th minute of the Rabbitohs 20-16 round four victory at ANZ Stadium, however the NRL judiciary found him guilty of the offence.

The charge adds 140 points to the 85 carry over points Burgess had on his record, resulting in a two-game ban and 25 carry over points.

Burgess will miss the Round 5 visit to St. George Illawarra Dragons on Friday 6 April at UOW Jubilee Oval, and the Round 6 match against the Sydney Roosters on Thursday 12 April at Allianz Stadium.

He will be available for the home match against the Canberra Raiders at Central Coast Stadium in Round 7.
