Happy birthday to the longest-living Rabbitoh

The South Sydney Rabbitohs would like to wish our, former player, Alex Johnston a very happy 93rd birthday today.

Alex is the Rabbitohs longest-living first grader and was the 361st player to don the famous Cardinal and Myrtle.

Born in Sydney on March 24, 1925, Alex was a Kensington junior who loves his Rugby League.

Like his father, Alex Johnston, who was the 127th Rabbitohs’ player, Alex went off to serve his country in battle before pursuing his career in footy.

A halfback in his heyday, Alex made his debut on May 24, 1947, against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Belmore Oval.

Across a three year career (1946-1949), Alec played a total of 54 games across three grades for the Rabbitohs and scored 21 tries.

The Rabbitohs would like to thank Alex for his wonderful service to both his Club and his Country and wish him a very happy 93rd birthday.
