The South Sydney Rabbitohs’ 2018 season will kick off with a bang when the mighty Red and Green take on English Super League giants, Wigan Warriors, in one half of an international double header at ANZ Stadium.

Next month Members and Supporters will get the opportunity to witness the first ever double header between NRL and Super League teams as Souths face Wigan and St George Illawarra take on Hull FC.

Head Coach Anthony Seibold named a 22-man squad ahead of the South Sydney Rabbitohs opening trial match of 2018.

Opportunity knocks for youngsters - Seibold

Opportunity is the theme of the South Sydney Rabbitohs’ clash against the Wigan Warriors this Saturday in the International Double Header, according to Coach Seibold.

The rookie Head Coach believes that the match will be the best opportunity for his players to prove their credentials and put their pre-season training to the test, particularly against a side such as Wigan.

When the Wigan Warriors arrive to take on the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Saturday 17 February, it'll be only the second time an English Super League side has challenged us on home soil.

Here we take a look back at the Club's match against Warrington Wolves at our spiritual home Redfern Oval, in a trial match that had more bite than bark and featured young versions of some of our current stars.

Remember the time when we became the best team in the World? It was only three years ago that the Rabbitohs traveled to the cold county of Merseyside to determine who would be crowned as world champions in the 2015 World Club Challenge.

While the first two matches against Super League clubs were trial matches that featured plenty of up and comers, this proved to be an amazing day in Souths history.
