The Power in Redfern

The South Sydney Rabbitohs face a whole new challenge as pre-season rolls into December. Not only is the tempo increasing, but a new test awaits them in the shape of the AFL's Port Adelaide.

The oldest professional sports club in South Australia sent 11 Aussie Rules players over to Redfern to go head-to-head with Souths in a series of ‘hybrid games’ as Head Coach Anthony Seibold aims to whip the Rabbitohs into shape ahead of the 2018 campaign.

After their arrival on Monday, the six second-year players and five new draftees were treated to a tour of the Bunnies' facilities by Player Evaluation and List Manager Mark Ellison, where the visitors learned about the rich history and traditions of the mighty Red and Green.

On Tuesday, the games begin. A series of three training sessions involved a mix of kicking, catching, grappling and tackling are designed to put the players out of their comfort zones and pick up some new tricks and techniques along the way.

Watch the Power soak in their new surroundings in the video and stay locked on rabbitohs.com.au for the rest of the week for more on Port Adelaide’s trip to Redfern.
