Moceidreke Selected for Fiji World Cup Trial

2017 Rabbitohs debutant Sitiveni Moceidreke has been selected for a Fijian internal World Cup trial match to determine Fiji’s final 24-man squad for the upcoming tournament.

The Overseas Fijians will play against the Fiji Residents at ANZ National Stadium in Suva on Saturday 7 October, with Moceidreke selected at fullback for the Overseas side.

The Fiji Bati are expected to field a number of NRL players in their 24-man squad for the World Cup including the Sims brothers, the Saifiti brothers, Suliasi Vunivalu and Jarryd Hayne to name just a few, with players selected from this trial match to fill the remaining spots in the squad.

The Overseas Fijians will be coached by former Rabbitohs player Daryl Millard and former NRL player Wes Naiqama.

The Fiji Bati will then play a three-way trial match against the Australian Kangaroos and the Papua New Guinea Kumuls on Saturday 14 October at ANZ National Stadium in Suva in the lead up to the World Cup where they will play the USA on Saturday 28 October in Townsville, Wales on Sunday 5 November in Townsville and Italy on Friday 10 November in Canberra.
