Rabbitohs Sign Ky Rodwell For Next Three Seasons

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are happy to announce that the Club has extended the contract of young front-rower Ky Rodwell until at least the end of the 2020 season.

Rodwell, 18, is a prop-forward from the south coast of NSW, who headed to Sydney after being recruited by Souths Juniors as a 16-year-old.

He played in the South Sydney Harold Matthews Cup under 16s team and captained the SG Ball Cup under 18s side before joining the under 20s squad in 2017 where he played ten games.

Rodwell has been selected to represent the Australian Schoolboys this year alongside Rabbitohs team mate Campbell Graham, scoring a try in the Australians’ opening Test against the New Zealand under 18s.

Rabbitohs Head Coach Anthony Seibold is pleased to see that Rodwell will be part of an emerging group of players coming through the ranks.

“Ky has been recognised as one of the elite schoolboy propositions in the game with his selection in the Australian Schoolboys side and he has shown a heap of potential during the under 18s and under 20s seasons for Souths this year,” Coach Seibold said.

“He has shown at the junior levels that he has the willingness to work hard and the leadership qualities to lead a side which are all positives as we look towards his future in the game.

“Him having the opportunity to develop his game further with us is very exciting and I know all of the coaching staff are looking forward to watching and assisting with his development over the next three years.”
