I Wouldn't Want To Play Anywhere Else

John Sutton, the longest serving Rabbitoh in the Club’s history, had no desire to be anywhere but in Redfern in 2018 whilst negotiating his contract.

The three time George Piggins Medalist has signed on for his 15th season in the Cardinal and Myrtle and is on course to become the first Rabbitoh to play 300 NRL games.

However, it’s not the record Sutton cares about – it’s his bond with the Club, our Members and the emerging group of young players who he’s tipped to have a big future.

“I love the Club and I’ve been here my whole career. I wouldn’t want to play anywhere else,” said Sutton.

“With some young talent coming through I think it’s going to be a really good year next year. Zane, Cam and Angus are going to get better next year. It’s good to see them coming through and playing some good football and I’m happy to be around for that."

Featuring in every match for the Rabbitohs in 2017 and scoring five tries, assisting four, running for 2041 metres, assisting 8 line breaks and averaging 22.1 tackles a match. ‘Sutto’ proved he still has plenty to give on field and is focusing on maintaining his form.

“I feel I’ve been playing pretty well lately so I just have to continue playing well.”
