I’ll Put In A Lot Of Work This Off-Season: Johnston

As the players head off for an off-season break, Alex Johnston says he is looking forward to having a better season next year and is setting goals for the 2018 finals.

“Obviously it was a disappointing season for us but now that it’s over we can all relax, drop the shoulders, go have a holiday and then come back ready for a good 2018,” Johnston said.

“Goals for next year are obviously wanting to get back into finals, back into the top four and to make a good run to the Grand Final.”

Johnston suffered an injury in round 24 forcing him to miss the remaining two games of the season but is focused on his rehab and what’s needed to come back injury free.

“It’s coming along good, it feels alright but it’s getting better each day so I’ll just put in a lot of work this off-season, do a lot of rehab and make sure it’s fit and ready to go.”

Johnston slightly missed out on finishing the season as the NRL’s highest try scorer but is optimistic about the event and is looking forward to setting it as a goal next year.

“That’s the good thing about it, is that there is always next year to try and get it. I missed out this year but that’s something I look forward to trying to achieve.”

The players will return to Rabbitohs HQ for pre-season training but will first enjoy some time away with Johnston’s plans to travel overseas.

“I’m lucky enough to be going on a holiday to L.A. and Mexico so I’m looking forward to that.

“I’m taking the missus there, you know, I’ve got to take care of her.

“Hopefully going to go to Disneyland maybe or Universal studios, kick back and relax in Mexico, stay away from the Cartels and make it home alive.”
