We Want To Play South Sydney Football

Dave Tyrrell and John Sutton have backed their team’s reshuffled line-up ahead of our upcoming game against the Canberra Raiders for Member Appreciation Round.

The men in Red and Green will take the field with Alex Johnston slotting into fullback to maximise Cody Walker’s impact from the halves which was seen earlier this year.

“Things haven’t gone to plan. Cody is looking forward to playing in the six so he’s really looking forward to that and AJ enjoys playing fullback so we’re excited,” said Tyrrell.

“We really want to play well, we’ve got a plan, we want to execute that, we want to do things and we want to play South Sydney football. In previous weeks we haven’t done that and we really want to do that now.”

Tyrrell cited a lack of consistency in the team’s recent form, with his team showing good fight in recent fixtures but unable to secure the two points.

“We haven’t been consistent and we definitely need to do that,” said Tyrrell.

Club stalwart John Sutton backed his teammate’s claims and has challenged the squad to play for the whole 80 minutes this weekend.

“I think changes will be good for our side,” said Sutton.

“The last few weeks have been disappointing, but we’re looking to turn it around on Saturday.”

Returning to the forward pack after spending some time in the halves, Sutton was upbeat about going into the Round 21 fixture. The playmaker expressing his desire to play good football for our Members in Member Appreciation Round.

“For us we’re going to go out there and try play our best football. We haven’t done it for the past couple of weeks so we’re going to train really hard and hopefully put in a good performance,”

“We haven’t been good enough for the whole 80 minutes. We’ve played well in patches but we’ve got to play well for the full 80 minutes this week.”
