Cody Ready For Massive Cairns Battle

Cody Walker is expecting a big match in front of a big crowd at Barlow Park on Sunday when his Rabbitohs clash with the North Queensland Cowboys.

Walker’s first experience at Barlow Park was in front of close to 15,000 Rugby League fanatics and he’s expecting no different for his second trip to Cairns.

Crowd aside, Cody feels his team is ready to step up on the footy field against the Cowboys who he expects will bring a strong performance to Barlow Park.

“We’ve got a massive game in Cairns this weekend. I think Michael Morgan has really stepped up in JT’s absence and they’re still a quality squad. We’re really looking forward to going up to Cairns,” said Walker.

“I went up there last year, it was my first time up there to play a game in the NRL so I’m really looking forward to getting back up there.”

Despite coming up short to the Roosters in last week’s 14-12 loss, Walker points to the Panthers performance to showcase what the Rabbitohs can do when each individual does their job.

“I think it’s just individually focusing on your own role, we were really good against the Panthers and the challenge was to back that up the next week and we didn’t,” said Walker.

“We had opportunities to win that game and we didn’t take them so we’re looking forward to this weekend and really looking forward to bouncing back.”

Walker’s shift to fullback has produced decent results but the playmaker says he has room to grow in his new role and is working hard to build combinations on the training park.

“I probably haven’t  been playing the best footy these last couple of weeks, adapting to a new role in the team I’ve just got to do more reps on the training park,” said Walker.

“We’ve got a massive following up there in Cairns and we’re looking forward to the weather there.”
