Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire, hooker Damien Cook and centre Hymel Hunt have praised John Sutton ahead of his milestone 300th appearance for South Sydney in all grades.
Coach Maguire took time to recognise Sutton's achievement earlier today in an interview with the Rabbitohs Media team. 'Madge' underlining the magnitude of the milestone but also pointing to the hunger the veteran Rabbitoh still has for success.
"It's a fantastic achievement, I know in time he'll chase the 300 mark (for NRL games), but it's another great milestone for John," said Head Coach Michael Maguire.
"I think these are the ones you look back on when your career's finished because I know at the moment John's really hungry to get this team where we want it to be and that's in the winning circle.
"There's a lot of work that John's been doing so full credit to him. It takes a lot for any player to play 100, let alone 300, games for a Club and all the work that goes on in the background is quite incredible.
"John's character really, over his career, has shown it's all about South Sydney. He's had success but he's hungry for more now than he has ever been so I'm really looking forward to getting out on Friday and getting that result we're after."
At an NRL Media session this morning at the Simply Energy High Performance Centre, Rabbitohs centre Hymel Hunt and hooker Damien Cook described the positive influence Sutton brings to the Rabbitohs.
"It's a massive achievement," said Hunt.
"Not many people play 50 games or 100 games - he's playing 300. He's a massive part of the Club and for us younger boys he's a massive driving part and motivation for us."
"300 games for South Sydney, it's very impressive," said Cook.
"John is the culture of this Club. He's been here a long time and everyone looks to him as our leader and he's very experienced and a great guy to have around off the field as well. That's what everyone loves him for."
