2013 - House of El, Man of Steel, Superman Jersey
The first Rabbitohs Superman jersey was created in 2013 and promoted alongside the release of the Man of Steel movie. The 'S' symbol emblazoned on the front of the Jersey is the Kryptonian symbol for HOPE and is synonymous with Superman and now, the South Sydney Rabbitohs. The game saw the Rabbitohs defeated the Canberra Raiders 32 points to two in their Round 16 clash.
2014 - Man of Steel Superman Jersey
The following year saw the return of the Superman Jersey in the Rabbitohs Round 14 clash between with the Wests Tigers. In the 21st Premiership year, the Rabbitohs won in their Man of Steel Superman jersey at their home ground at ANZ Stadium 32 points to 10. Similar to the previous years design, the jersey was differentiated with a white bunny.
2015 - Superman Jersey
The annual Man of Steel tribute jersey continued to be represented in 2015, this time in Round 25 against the Brisbane Broncos. The jersey brought back the black bunny and the 'S' changed colour to a vibrant gold. The game was the first and only to go in favour of the opposition with the Rabbitohs going down 12 points to 47.
2016 - Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Superman Jersey
But we were back in 2016 and what a win it was! This time the jersey had some alterations with the addition of Batman. The jersey was released alongside the premiere of the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie in Round two. The Batman and Superman logos were moulded together and took pride alongside the Rabbitohs logo on the Club’s traditional home strip. The game marked the first home game for the Rabbitohs 2016 season and a gallant effort saw the side defeat the Newcastle Knights 48 points to six.
2017 - New Edition Superman Jersey
The 2017 jersey takes on a different design approach, replacing the Red and Green stripes with a black base. This is contrasted with a 3D style 'S' highlighted in the colours of the mighty Rabbitohs.
Taking the year 2015 out of the equation, the Rabbitohs have defeated their opponents by more than 20 points in their Superman jerseys and will be looking to continue that streak on Friday night. The Rabbitohs will take on the Parramatta Eels at ANZ Stadium in a Friday Night Footy clash kicking off at 7:50pm.
