After witnessing his playing squad’s response to recent results through some intense training sessions, Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire says his team is focused and hungry to perform well against the Wests Tigers tonight (Friday) at ANZ Stadium.

Maguire says his playing group all have an understanding of what is required in the Red & Green Jersey and is confident the positive mindset will show on the field.

“We’ve spoken about where we are at and the boys are really hungry to get back playing again,” explained Maguire.

“The boys have gotten back from the rep round and had good experiences to bring back, but the squad have put in the effort to show what we are here to fight for.”

Maguire says that the team is going to use all the effort put into training over the last two weeks into putting in a performance that will make the members proud.

“We have worked really hard in these last two weeks, so I’m really looking forward to seeing the boys go out and perform,” said Maguire.

“The boys have a fair expectation of how we want to play and we are expecting to do that on Friday.”

With the passing representative round calling up eight Rabbitohs, Maguire lauds the quality of football displayed in the fixtures, especially England with South Sydney captain Sam Burgess and his brother Tom Burgess leading the forward pack against Samoa.

“I saw some real competitive games, I thought England, with a few of our English boys in there, showed some really good performances.”
