Member Story: Joe Donates Hats In South Africa

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have exceeded 28,000 Members for the 2017 NRL season and while the count continues to rise, Rabbitohs Media have reached out to our Members to find out more about their involvement with the Club.

Our Member story today is about a Member who has spread the joy of the South Sydney Rabbitohs to a kindergarten classroom in South Africa.

Rabbitohs Member, Joe Rapisarda recently travelled to South Africa for his nephews wedding and upon his travels visited a kindergarten in the local area.

“Whilst being in South Africa and specifically in Kruger National Park for the wedding of my nephew Simon and his now wife Felicity, we had the pleasure of visiting the Henna Kindergarten which is part of the More Community Trust which was started up over 20 years ago and now has graduates from that kindergarten working in the greater community,” described Joe.

He explained that many of the wedding guests organised to donate items to the kindergarten and as a proud Member of the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Joe decided to donate two Rabbitohs caps.

“All of the wedding guests donated their time and quite useful items to the kindergarten such as crayons, pencils, pens, books, footballs of all shapes.

“I decided to supply two Rabbitohs caps which the Regional Manager Thembi Mdluli said would be given out as part of the graduation ceremony.”

Joe has aspirations that the moment will be remembered in years to come while the Rabbitohs are proud to have kind Members like Joe.

“Who knows in 20 years’ time those caps may be returned to Sydney with the owner of it saying they remember the day that the Red and Green came to visit.”
