Rabbitohs forward Kyle Turner says the Rabbitohs can win the battle of the forwards against the Cowboys by turning up with the right attitude.

After suffering a round four loss to the Sydney Roosters, Turner expects our squad to lift in response to the defeat when we take on the North Queensland Cowboys tomorrow night.

Although coming out second best on the scoreboard, the signs were there for the Rabbitohs - outrunning the Roosters by 240m, registering 52% possession, missing 27 tackles to the Roosters 38 and conceding two less penalties.

It's this foundation that Turner believes his squad can build on with the right attitude and produce a strong performance in Townsville.

"We've got to come with the right attitude and take on their forward pack up the middle and let the backs do their thing," said Turner.

"Our bench does a great job for us, we've got a great side we just have to go out there and do the job."

Fellow Rabbitohs forward Angus Crichton echoed Turner's sentiment, outlining the focus on improvement during the week.

"We're focusing on our forward pack and how we can improve from last week," said Crichton.

"We've been learning and watching our game from last week to really give our best effort on Friday."

The Cowboys will be looking to assert their dominance with their big forward pack - bolstered by the return of Dally M Medal winner Jason Taumalolo.

It's a battle Kyle Turner is excited to take part in while declaring his side's ambition to be the best forward pack in the NRL.

"It determines where we're at as a forward pack. He's (Taumalolo) the best in the NRL and he's going to be a challenge for us so we need to step up our game and really see where we're at as a side," said Turner.

"We want to be the best forward pack in the game and who better to go against than the Cowboys to determine whether we are or not. It's going to be a good challenge and the boys are looking forward to it."
