Dragons Name Squad For Charity Shield Clash

The Dragons have named a 20-man squad for this Sunday's Charity Shield clash with Dragons assistant coach Ben Hornby declaring it's "close to our best squad at the moment".

The Dragons are coming into our traditional season curtain-raiser off the back of a 20-10 victory over the Wests Tigers in their trial match at WIN Stadium last Saturday.

Dragons assistant coach Ben Hornby - speaking to Dragons.com.au - believes it will be a competitive match with Paul McGregor selecting a strong side.

"This is close to our best squad at the moment, the coaching staff thinks," said Hornby.

"While we'll still going to give some guys some opportunities to impress, it'll be close to our starting side. This trial is more about getting those combinations going before the season starts.

"It'll be a good start for the boys to get into competition-mode. We're looking forward to it and I'm sure the Rabbitohs are too."
