The Rabbitohs have gone straight from Auckland Airport to the Manurewa Rugby League & Sports Club in South Auckland ahead of their Auckland Nines Tournament this weekend.

Running drills, meeting the community, signing jerseys and experiencing a traditional New Zealand welcome; the Rabbitohs made quite an impact with local, Rugby League loving fans.

"We got off the plane, got on the bus and went straight to Manurewa to run some drills and meet with local footy juniors," said second-rower Kyle Turner.

"It was good to get out and interact with the community and that makes it all worthwhile."

Rabbitohs forward Dave Tyrrell was impressed with the reception the team received in Manurewa and says the Rabbitohs got plenty out of the event too.

"It was a good experience for the fans, and it was an experience that we won’t forget as well," said Tyrrell.

"Their greeting was a good chance to experience a bit of their culture."

General Manager of Football Shane Richardson presented the club with a signed Rabbitohs jersey on behalf of the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
