West Coast Pirates Academy Team Visit Rabbitohs HQ

The South Sydney Rabbitohs hosted the West Coast Pirates Academy team (Under 16’s) for a special VIP tour of the Redfern High Performance Centre today.

The West Coast Pirates Academy team are currently on a busy east coast tour, which involves playing four tour matches in seven days. The Pirates Academy team played the North Sydney Bears Junior team on Sunday, winning a close encounter 30-20.

The tour of the Rabbitohs facility was a great opportunity to introduce the junior rugby league players to the training requirements and opportunities which are available in rugby league as explained by Tony Crowe, Operations Manager for NRL WA.

"This tour is about exposing junior players to elite pathways in rugby league, whilst also emphasizing the importance of making good decisions off the field- especially around education and being a role model. The boys were very grateful to be invited for a behind the scenes tour of the Rabbitohs facility," Tony said.

The West Coast Pirates Academy team has three remaining tour matches:

The relationship with the West Coast Pirates is part of the South Sydney Rabbitohs’ commitment to grow the game of Rugby League in Western Australia. The South Sydney Rabbitohs will again take a home game to Perth in 2017, playing the round 11 clash against the Melbourne Storm at NIB Stadium, Perth.
