A Look Back At: 2013

The Rabbitohs’ official website, www.rabbitohs.com.au, will be taking a look back at the past decade to see the growth of the Club over the past ten years.

Finishing second only on points difference to long-time rivals the Sydney Roosters, 2013 was a dominant year for the Rabbitohs and set a precursor to our ultimate victory in 2014.

Never falling lower than fifth position on the ladder, the Rabbitohs were a threat all over the field as the only team to have four players contribute to 10 try assists or more (Inglis, Luke, Reynolds, Sutton).

Adam Reynolds was the third highest point scorer with 204 points from 4 tries, 93 goals and 2 field goals. Sam Burgess was massive in the forward pack registering 14 line-breaks – more than any other forward in the league.

Ben Te’o, Thomas Burgess and Bryson Goodwin would all make their debuts.

It was the last year we would see Roy Asotasi, one of the original big name signings after our readmission to the competition, line up in the Red & Green after being with the Club for seven years.

With over 27,000 Members behind us we fought hard but fell against the Sea Eagles in the preliminary final at ANZ Stadium with a 20-30 scoreline… A hurdle we wouldn’t miss in 2014!
