Rabbitohs Media spoke to Rookie of the Year, Cody Walker about his time off and his thoughts on the new faces around camp as preseason training continues to heat up.
Walker spent his first week off in September visiting his home town in Casino along with teammates Greg Inglis and Adam Reynolds, delivering coaching clinics and opening a new community facility.
“I was lucky enough to take Greg Inglis and Adam Reynolds to my home town of Casino, really enjoyed it and the town of Casino really enjoyed it as well. Other than that, I spent a bit of time with my family and preparing my little fella for big school next year so looking forward to that,” said Walker.
With week six of preseason wrapping up, Walker explained the enjoyable atmosphere at camp and how the new group of young players are fitting in.
“It’s been really enjoyable,” said Walker.
“It’s obviously something we are not used to with different high performance blokes coming in but really enjoying the training and ready to rip in next year.
“Everyone’s fitting in very well, really impressed with guys like Cameron Murray, Robbie Rochow, Robbie Farah, ‘Burnsey’ (Braidon Burns) and Tyrell (Fuimaono) so we’ve got a good group of young blokes and can’t wait for next year.”
