With voting open for the Rugby League All Stars, we're looking back at our Indigenous Round clash with the Dragons when we donned our special Indigenous Round Jersey.

Dane Nielsen managed to cross the line in our Round 11 Indigenous Round clash with the Dragons while wearing the Indigenous Jersey that he had a hand in creating. With fellow Indigenous player Greg Inglis deployed in Five-Eighth, Nielsen was on the end of a monster cut-out pass that gave him enough room to acrobatically finish in the corner.

Nielsen is a proud Alga & Erub man from Northern Queensland and grew up with a strong and proud sense of his heritage and identity.

“It’s very special to have that involvement with the jersey. Growing up in North Queensland, there’s a lot of Indigenous people up there – it’s very special for my mum to teach me a lot of things.

“Obviously times have changed a lot since the stories that my mum has taught me. But I’ve never forgot where I’ve come from and mum’s been a big part of that, and my grandparents have been part of that as well.

Vote for Dane Nielsen to play in the NRL All Stars Clash to be played on Friday 10th February 2017 here!
