There were wild scenes in Port Moresby as Greg Inglis and his PMXIII team arrived to massive fanfare from thousands of Rugby League Papua New Guineans.

The PMXIII squad arrived at Jacksons International Airport on a delayed flight and immediately came face to face with a huge crowd that formed hours before their arrival, unperturbed by the scorching heat.

The crowd erupted with cheering and chanting as they managed to get a glimpse of their Rugby League heros ahead of Saturday's clash between Inglis' squad and the PNG Kumuls.

Police and airport security were required to fight back the excited crowd who chased after the team bus as it left for the Holiday Inn.

Papua New Guineans will be treated to community visits from the PMXIII squad before the match - including the League Bilong Liaf rugby clinic with over a hundred students from Port Moresby schools.
