In lieu of regular host Jeremy Monahan, Mark Ellison steps up again to give us Maguire's Insights, brought to you by Hostplus, for our Monday night Round 24 clash with the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks.
Heading towards are last home game for the season, Maguire is pleased by the Rabbitohs recent performances and believes that defensively his side will need to be focused and strong for this week’s encounter at ANZ Stadium.
“They’re up the top for a reason,” said Maguire.
“We’re going to definitely have to be on our game and once again our defence is going to have to be very strong,
“They’re a team that move the ball around and they’ve got some speed on their edges so they like to isolate you out on the edge so defensively that’s obviously something we are going to be focused on.”
Despite the absence of Zane Musgrove, who is serving a one match suspension for a shoulder charge from last week’s game against the Warriors, Maguire is confident Nathan Brown’s inclusion will add some energy to the side.
“Brownie’s full of energy when he comes on and plays, I think that will add to everything we’ve been doing.”
With Monday marking the last home game for the season, Maguire is hoping to see the loyal Rabbitohs fans out in numbers.
“It’s been a season where we’ve had a few sort of things that we’ve really had to work on but it will be nice to have them out there with a really good performance that we are looking forward to on Monday.”
