Rabbitohs Play In Crown Resorts Foundation Charity Challenge

South Sydney Rabbitohs are proud to be a part of the third Crown Resorts Foundation Charity Challenge this Saturday night at AAMI Park against the Melbourne Storm.

The game will see Crown Resorts partner with both clubs to raise much needed funds for Ovarian Cancer Australia.

The initiative will also coincide with the NRL’s Women in League Round with both teams to wear a specially designed jersey showcasing the Ovarian Cancer Australia logo.

Ovarian cancer has the lowest survival rate of any women’s cancer with 1,500 women diagnosed every year – 1,000 of which will die within five years.

Ovarian Cancer Australia is a not-for-profit national organisation providing support for women and their families while also raising community awareness of ovarian cancer.

Crown will kick off the fundraising by donating $20,000 to Ovarian Cancer Australia as well as an additional $1,000 for every try scored on the night.

Crown Resorts Foundation Charity Challenge Cup will be presented to the winning captain after the game in a special on-field presentation that will include a final donation to Ovarian Cancer Australia from Crown Resorts.

Rabbitohs player jerseys will also be auctioned off on rabbitohs.com.au with all proceeds going to Ovarian Cancer Australia.

Crown Resorts Foundation Advisory Chair Gretel Packer, said “We see this event as a wonderful opportunity to work with our NRL partners to benefit the community and support a worthwhile cause. Ovarian cancer is a terrible disease that affects too many women all too frequently.

“The $20,000 the Crown Resorts Foundation has donated, and all other funds raised, will support Ovarian Cancer Australia to deliver their awareness campaign so that all women are aware of ovarian cancer symptoms and have access to best practice diagnosis, treatment and support.

“This event also aims to draw critical attention to the disease in the public and to ensure it has the attention it deserves.”

Paula Benson, Ovarian Cancer Australia’s Chair says the support of Crown Resorts Foundation will assist the organisation to achieve its bold vision.

“Our 25/25 Vision aims to achieve a 25 per cent improvement to the five year survival rate of ovarian cancer by the year 2025.

“We are so grateful to the Crown Resorts Foundation for their support and their unwavering commitment to women living with ovarian cancer.”
