Rabbitohs Forward Thomas Burgess believes that we are improving as a team as we approach the remaining fixtures of the 2016 NRL season and the tough times are cultivating a culture that will serve us well in the future.

“It’s (the rest of the season) about building towards a real culture, and obviously everybody wants to play well for the colours their playing in, so there will be a lot of pride.” Burgess said on Tuesday.

Burgess believes recent results have helped individuals reflect and grow as players and work together to improve.

“There’s a few things I need to keep working on to get my game right so that’s my focus at the moment.

“One thing I’m continuing to try to do during training is working on my protection in the carry, and that’s one thing I’m looking at each week; my goal each week is to protect the ball.

"That’s one thing I’m just going to continue working on, and all I can do is just look at the next week and do it better that week."

Burgess said that this season will only help the Club get better and improve in the future.

“It’s a team sport and teams go through ups and downs and it’s adversity, but it’s not that serious." said Burgess.

"We’re obviously going through a tough time as a Club and we want to be winning, and that’s what we mean by adversity.

"I’m sure we will only get stronger from these times, and that’s what they say people come out stronger from their weaknesses."
