Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire says this difficult run of results that the team is going through now will show the true character and strengths of the Club.
“The boys are going through a period now where we’ve shown a fair bit of character about where we are as a Club, and that’s what I do love about this competition,” Coach Maguire said.
“For us as a Club, we’ve had highs and now we’re being challenged about where we sit.
‘We get to find out, really, the strengths of all areas of our Club.
“I’ve said it quite a number of times before, I’m actually looking forward to what’s ahead because I’m seeing the effort’s there but we need to be more clinical and if we do that then obviously the momentum in our organisation and the way we’re playing will change.”
Coach Maguire says that the current run will have a bearing on the future successes of the team and the Club.
“We’re going through a period now where we’re growing as a group and we get to find out our real character of who we are as a team and as a Club,” Coach Maguire said.
“It’s quite enjoyable as a Coach to have the highs but these periods now are real defining moments of what we can create moving forward.”
Captain Greg Inglis echoed the thoughts of his mentor.
“It does test the character within the playing group,” Inglis responded to a question regarding the current run and the weeks ahead.
“Not only the playing group, but throughout the Club itself.
“We’ve obviously had some highs in recent years and we’re at this point now where we have to turn up and show our character week-in, week-out and move forward.”
