Burgess – We Need To Fix Patchy Performances

Rabbitohs Lock Forward, Sam Burgess, is disappointed with a patchy performance in last night’s clash with the Parramatta Eels but believes that an eighty minutes performance could see the Rabbitohs beat any team on the day.

Speaking to the NRL Media this morning Burgess believes lapses in concentration over the eighty minute match at ANZ Stadium cost his team the game after a strong start to the contest.

“I thought we started quite well. We just let in a couple of cheap tries which is disappointing… and it’s not through lack of effort. Certainly we’re all working hard it’s just about putting our energy in the right channel and getting the result.”

With the team’s focus shifting to the coming clash against the Penrith Panthers at Pepper Stadium Burgess has a grounded belief that the Rabbitohs can turn around their recent performances and challenge at a higher level.

“We need to play for eighty minutes. We need to cut out the little errors in our game and do our job for the whole game rather than in patches. In the NRL, as we all know, it’s a tough competition and any team can beat each other on the day,”

“We can’t be naive to the position we’re in. We need to fix it and fix it pretty quick but certainly we believe in our teammates and believe in each other. It’s just a matter of transferring it into now into a performance on the weekend.”
