Tyrrell – Good to be Back

Rabbitohs prop-forward, Dave Tyrrell, made his return to the Rabbitohs last week, and the Premiership winner is proud to be back.

Tyrrell will this week start off the bench in Michael Maguire’s 17 when the Rabbitohs take on the Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium this Friday night.

“I’ve missed a few weeks there,” said Tyrrell.

“It felt good to be back on the field and get involved with the team. We’re just looking week to week and putting our best performance out there against the Tigers.”

In the prop’s absence, young-gun Nathan Brown has stepped up to the plate, providing plenty in the way of enthusiasm and go-forward for the men in Red and Green.

Tyrrell praised Brown for his efforts, citing that the enthusiastic forward deserves his starting spot.

“Nathan’s been working really hard,” said Tyrrell.

“He deserves his starting spot and he’s playing some good footy, so hopefully he keeps doing that. He runs hard and tackles hard and that’s what you want.”

Tyrrell’s men in Red and Green will be looking to build on their performance in Perth last week after going down by a single point in the second period of golden-point extra time.

“It wasn’t a good performance from us,” said Tyrrell.

“We’re really disappointed in ourselves. There’s a long way to go we think and we’re going to work really hard to turn that around.”
