Maguire – Defence is Key

Rabbitohs Head Coach, Michael Maguire, says that tightening up his side’s defence is key ahead of this Friday’s Round 14 clash against the Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium.

“We’ve just got to be strong around certain areas in our defence,” said Maguire.

“If we can tidy that area up, then obviously we know we’ve got the attack to be able to put on points and perform the way we did.”

Maguire named his best available 13 yesterday (Tuesday), with Cody Walker again set to start at fullback, while Adam Reynolds and Greg Inglis to again partner in the halves.

Maguire spoke about how pleased he is to have Walker on board at fullback, following the live-wire agreeing to terms on a contact extension last week.

“At the moment I’m really pleased,” said Maguire.

“We look at our attack and look at ways that we can improve, but at the moment he’s showing signs that we’ve found a player that can really fit into that position for us.

“I’m really pleased that he’s signed too – he’s very excited to be a part of the Club and he’s very passionate about this organisation.”
