Team list

A Members Perspective - Rd 10, 2016

I took a trip to our spiritual home – Redfern Oval. It’s a beautiful place, and while I sat in the stands, I watched a group of Indigenous kids and their teacher play a game of footy.

It was three on three, girls and boys, all dominating the field while yelling out all the rules as running commentary. Things like; ‘that was a Shepherd’, or ‘watch out for the offload’.

This is what Rugby League is about, and that short visit to the hallowed ground rejuvenated me.

So sure, we haven’t gotten the results we wanted in the last few weeks. But do you know what? I just want to enjoy my footy like I enjoyed watching those kids.

There’s so much to be positive about as we look forward to this Friday night and the rest of the season.

First of all, in Madge I trust. His team reshuffle is going to make for an interesting game to say the least.

Greg Inglis moving to five-eighth means that he will no-doubt get his hands on the ball a little more, and in the front line no less – a place where he can bark orders and rev up the boys even more.

Alex Johnston is back too. Our try-scoring whiz gets to don the number one at fullback, so I am looking forward to seeing him use his skills to slice through.

Our big fellas have had a rest too thanks to the Rep Round. That will no doubt account for all the little niggling injuries that are inevitable during the course of a season.

I pretty much ask one thing Rabbitohs Members… enjoy the game. I love this team and what it represents. I love watching my team take the field to play this great game and will not take that feeling for granted! So I will support, cheer, and act like a loony as we watch the boys dig deep at Parra.  We want those points! Let’s help the boys get over the line!

Let’s do this Members! Up the Rabbitohs!
