Rabbitohs Head Coach, Michael Maguire, has given his Insights following this evening’s team announcement for Round 10 to take on the Parramatta Eels at Pirtek Stadium this Friday night.
The Rabbitohs named a new-look line-up for this week’s clash – among the most notable shifts coming in the form of skipper, Greg Inglis, being named at five-eighth, a position the Test player is no stranger to having won a Clive Churchill Medal there in 2007.
“I’ve spent a bit of time with GI at five-eighth so I know what he’s capable of,” said Maguire.
“I’m looking forward to seeing him bring that into what we’ve got in the team. He can swing from side to side and still have that freedom.
“I’m looking forward to seeing GI get into the five-eighth position and create a little bit on that left and on the right.”
Alex Johnston will return from a lengthy injury in the clash and will don the number one jersey at fullback, while Nathan Brown will start at prop-forward following his maiden representative outing for City against Country over the weekend.
Maguire has been pleased with the efforts of his men both at training and in the representative arena during the past week and is now looking forward to the positive vibes translating onto the football field.
“The boys have been very thorough around how they’ve been training,” said the mentor.
“But it was great to see a number of our boys go out in the representative weekend. Obviously Greg always plays and performs very well for Australia, but to see the likes of Nathan Brown and Aaron Gray scoring four tries for the City team was excellent.
“We’ve had other younger guys playing in various rep teams as well, but across the park everyone’s back healthy and looking forward to getting back out onto the park again.
