Rabbitohs forward, Sam Burgess, says that he and his teammates are proud of all the men in Red and Green who represented the Club, their country and City during the weekends’ Representative Round.
A total of six Rabbitohs and three North Sydney Bears took the field during the weekend across five matches, going on to play key roles for their respective teams in their pursuit of Test Match and City v Country glory.
Burgess is looking forward to having those representative players back on deck in the Red and Green this week as the Club prepares to announce their Round 10 team to take on the Parramatta Eels at Pirtek Stadium this Friday night.
“They represented our Club very well in their respective teams that they all played for,” enthused Burgess.
“We’re very proud of the guys individually for going off and doing that at international level and with the City Country boys as well – we’re proud of the guys internally and happy to have them back.”
Burgess praised the efforts of City representative, Aaron Gray, who finished yesterday’s (Sunday’s) clash against Country with four tries and a total of 16 points – the Englishman proclaiming the Souths Junior as one of the Club’s most consistent so far in 2016.
“I think he’s getting the rewards for the hard work he’s put in for the last 12-18 months,” said Burgess.
“He certainly worked unbelievably hard in the pre-season. He’s probably been our best player or most consistent player over the year.
“He’s just getting the rewards on the back end of it so I’m real happy for Aaron.”
