While it may be Representative Round, the work at Redfern continues, with the Rabbitohs preparing for their next encounter against the Parramatta Eels.
The men in Red and Green do not play this weekend owing to scheduled representative matches, and according to back-rower Paul Carter, the week off is a prime opportunity for assessment.
“We’ve got a good opportunity this week to go back and have a look at ourselves and have a look at where we can improve,” said Carter.
“It’s a good opportunity for us to improve in certain areas where you can’t really if you’re preparing for a game – a bit more fitness, a bit more physical activity than we would in our regular week.
“We’ve rolled up the sleeves and had good sessions on the field – it’s certainly been helpful.”

While the work continues, Carter and his men will also be cheering on their teammates wearing representative colours this weekend, citing the collective pride felt within the group at the achievements of those selected.
A total of seven Rabbitohs and three North Sydney Bears will ply their trade during the weekend, including; Greg Inglis (Australia), Kirisome Auva’a (Samoa), Michael Oldfield (Tonga), Aaron Gray, Nathan Brown (City), Tevita Cottrell (Fiji) and Siosifa Talakai (Junior Kiwis), in addition to Bears trio, Jokatama Dokonivalu, Sitiveni Moceidreke (Fiji) and Samisoni Langi (Tonga).
“I think they’ll all do well,” said Carter.
“It’s great to see so many boys selected in those teams, representing themselves their country – or City – and the Rabbitohs too.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how all of them show up. It’s such an honour for them to be a part of it and I’m sure they’ll all get plenty out of the experience and bring those positives back to Redfern.”
