Maguire – Positive Signs

Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire and his men will be building on the positives in their game ahead of this Thursday’s clash against the Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium.

While going down in Round 8 to the Broncos, the Rabbitohs mentor cited that there were plenty of positive signs that his men will work on this week when they take the field, but also added that an 80 minute performance is required.

“I think there’s a lot of things that are firing,” said Maguire.

“On the weekend, we showed signs that the little things that matter in our team, we’re showing on the ground. Unfortunately at the 35 minute mark, we clocked off and two quick tries were scored at the back end of that first half.

“I thought the boys came out in the second half and showed some great fight and spirit around what’s been built inside this team – we’ve just got to make sure that you’re doing it for 40 minutes in the first half and you’ve got to do it in the second half.

“That’s what the top teams are doing at the moment.”

The men in Red and Green were given a boost on Tuesday evening, when halfback Adam Reynolds was cleared to play in the match – the halfback set to partner Luke Keary in the halves.

The Tigers meanwhile come into this week’s clash having gone down to the Canberra Raiders by 60-6, but will be bolstered by the return of Tim Simona to the centres.

The halves pairing of Luke Brooks and Mitchell Moses will steer the Tigers round the pitch, playing behind a forward pack that includes the likes of Robbie Farah, Tim Grant, Chris Lawrence and Curtis Sironen.
