Rabbitohs Head Coach, Michael Maguire, and his men in Red and Green are looking forward to continuing their preparations for Friday night’s Round 7 clash against the Cowboys in Townsville, after flying out of Sydney today (Wednesday).
The mentor cited the trip as a prime opportunity for he and his men to bond – a chance the whole squad will be looking to take advantage of as they continue their 2016 campaign.
“Getting away is actually quite exciting,” said Maguire.
“To spend a bit of time with the boys – we haven’t been able to do that lately. I’m looking forward to spending time with the boys on a casual basis.
“Obviously we’ll train while we’re up there and get stuck into the game, but we look forward to these sorts of opportunities.”
Cowboys coach, Paul Green named a settled extended line-up for the defending Premiers on Tuesday following some solid showings in recent weeks.
A forward pack consisting of Matt Scott, James Tamou and Jason Taumalolo (among others) will propel the Cowboys ahead, while the halves combination of Johnathan Thurston and Michael Morgan will seek to spread the ball wide to the likes of Kyle Feldt, Antonio Winterstein, and Lachlan Coote.
For Maguire though, it’s all about his men improving on their own game as they prepare to face Green’s men at their home.
“We know we need to be better – simple as that,” said Maguire.
“We’re going against a pack that has been playing very consistently, so we’ve got to make sure that we’re on our game and playing the way we know we can.”
