Souths Cares and Men of League Visit Former Souths Cheerleader

On March 16, former Rabbitoh and Souths Cares Ambassador Beau Champion and General Manager Brock Schaefer joined Men of League Welfare Officers John Peard, Bob McMillan and Alan Webb in visiting former Souths cheerleader Tracey Daikin at Campbelltown Hospital.

Tracey was a member of the Rabbitohs Cheer Squad during much of the 1970’s and 80’s and is a proud Member of the Club. Sadly Tracey has been battling a rare and aggressive form of brain tumour for much of the past two years. Tracey has battled the tumour with the same determination and passion with which she supports her beloved Rabbitohs and is an absolute inspiration to her family and friends. Tracey has three lovely children (Aged 11-20) who are her greatest strength during her current challenge

Her diagnosis has seen her endure more than three major surgeries and numerous rounds of radiation and chemotherapy. Tracey is thankful for the support of her family and friends during the weeks and months she has spent at hospitals in Sydney.

Following the request of her friends and family, both Souths Cares and Men of League were thrilled to visit Tracey this week. Former Souths Players Alan, Bob and Beau along with ex-Rooster John Peard enjoyed a couple of hours of Tracey’s company and were inspired by her determination and positive attitude.

Tracey has now embarked upon an experimental drug therapy (Lutate) which is unfortunately accessed only at huge cost (Approximately $4000.00 per treatment). Souths Cares and Men of League are promoting Tracey’s cause and hoping to assist her and her family with fundraising.

Tracey’s family needs all the financial support they can get. A MY CAUSE account has been opened to help ease the financial burden for her family and provide some financial security for her kids.
