Maguire Expecting Fire-Breathing Dragons

Rabbitohs Head Coach, Michael Maguire, knows that the St George Illawarra Dragons will be turning up ready to play this Sunday afternoon at the SCG.

After going down in their first two matches of the season, the Dragons will be ready to roll, and the Rabbitohs mentor has no doubt that the Red V will be putting their best foot forward when the two traditional rivals meet yet again on the hallowed turf of the SCG.

“We’re playing against a team that are coming off what they have,” said Maguire.

“They’ve probably had a fair chat amongst themselves about what they want to do, so we’ve got a lot to play for each week.

“The fact that there’s competition in our team makes things really enjoyable in the organisation.”

The Dragons have made a number of changes to their line-up, most notably with the shifting of Josh Dugan back to fullback after a brief, experimental stint in the centres.

But Maguire is focussing on his own team’s preparation ahead of the clash, pointing to the proper execution of ‘little’ and sometimes ‘unnoticeable’ goals as a key for his side.

“They’re probably things that sometimes you don’t pick up as a spectator,” said Maguire.

“The little things that we hold highly internally are the things we want to make sure that we’re hitting each week – that’s working really hard for each other.”

The Rabbitohs will take on the St George Illawarra Dragons again at the SCG this Sunday. Kick-off is at 4pm. Click here to purchase your tickets!
