Turner Looking to Lay the Platform
Rabbitohs back-rower, Kyle Turner, is looking forward to building on the strong platform up-front laid in Round 1 this Saturday against the Newcastle Knights at ANZ Stadium.
“The forwards have got to do the tough work up front,” said Turner.
“I think we did a really good job supporting each other up the middle. We’ve got to really back it up again against the Knights.
“They’ve got a tough side and we know whatever 17 they put out on the field we’re going to have to be on our game for.”
Strong performances from all the men up front will be needed again this week as the side looks to improve and fine-tune their game-plan against a hungry Knights outfit.
One part of the Rabbitohs engine-room that is serving to instil confidence according to Turner, is the leadership of Sam Burgess.
“He really stepped up and drove us in the right direction as a middle group – some of us are relatively new in that middle group,” said Turner.
“He’s really reassured us that we need to lay that platform for the backs.”
The Rabbitohs will wear limited edition Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice™ jerseys against the Knights.
The Batman and Superman logos – moulded together for the film – will take pride of place alongside the Rabbitohs logo on the Club’s traditional home strip on Saturday, as the men in Red and Green return to ANZ Stadium for their first home game of the new season.
