GI: An 80 Minute Effort

Ask Rabbitohs skipper, Greg Inglis, what he puts yesterday’s win against the Roosters down to, and the answer is simple – 80 minutes of effort from his men.

The Rabbitohs opened their 2016 NRL campaign in the best possible way by downing the Sydney Roosters 42-10 at Allianz Stadium in a committed, clinical, and relentless performance from the men in Red and Green – Inglis scoring a brilliant try in the process.

“Rewarding and pleasing,” said Inglis describing the victory.

“Every team goes through gruelling pre-seasons and (to) put an 80 minute performance like that – I couldn’t praise the boys highly enough.

“I think our forwards really laid the platform, especially in the conditions, and that allowed the backs to go in and pick the speed up.”

Among a host of positives to come out of the victory, Inglis pointed to the injection of new faces such as Cody Walker, Hymel Hunt, Damien Cook, and Zane Musgrove as refreshing for the team – all four playing key roles in the win.

“It definitely refreshes a lot of things,” said Inglis.

“I know myself coming back and seeing a lot of new faces – it made me keep on my toes. They’re younger, they’re fresher.

“They played well yesterday – our four debutants for the Club, and two of them making their first grade debut.

“It was great, rewarding and satisfying to see them out there.”
