The countdown to kick-off of the 2016 NRL Telstra Premiership is well and truly on, with just over a week remaining until the Rabbitohs take on the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium.
Sunday 6 March will see the game’s oldest and fiercest rivalry renewed, when the two Foundation Clubs come together for the 213th time since 1908.
The men in Red and Green finished their pre-season trial period having picked up a win over the Roosters at the Auckland Nines, before downing both the St George Illawarra Dragons and the Gold Coast Titans in successive full-format clashes leading into the start of the new season.
Rabbitohs Head Coach, Michael Maguire, is pleased with his team’s pre-season preparations, as well as their attitude going into Round 1
“I’ve got a group of players that want to work hard for each other – they do that at training and obviously when the teams are picked, it’s about the team,” said Maguire.
“They’re enjoying playing together and they’re hungry, and that’s what you want leading into the first round.”
