Rabbitohs forward, George Burgess, believes that his teams’ positive pre-season will lay down the foundation for the Club’s season, providing the Red and Greens with the best chance to have a favourable start to their 2016 campaign.
Burgess has been impressed with the energy around the playing group throughout pre-season and is now looking forward to finishing preparations in a strong fashion before tackling the new season.
“The boys have been working hard all pre-season and its game time now, so everyone is looking forward to getting started and getting back into the tough stuff,” said Burgess.
“We’re trying to put the work in each week, push each other and work really hard and put ourselves in the best position at the start of the 2016 season.”
Despite an array of positives coming out of the Club’s pre-season playing schedule – including victories over both the St George Illawarra Dragons and the Gold Coast Titans – Burgess believes that the team has plenty to do before their Round 1 clash with the Roosters.

“They weren’t our best performances, but that’s what trials are for,” said Burgess.
“We’ve got a lot to take away from it and a lot to work on before we get to Round 1.
“The boys will be hard at work doing that at training.”
Burgess also highlighted some key areas that the team will be seeking to address in 2016, most notably achieving a consistent level of form as the season goes on.
The 2016 season also sees George and twin brother Thomas welcome back older brother Sam to the Club.
“It’s been great to have the big fella back,” admitted Burgess.
“He’s a great influence on the younger players and he’s got a wealth of experience.
“I’m sure he’ll be a good influence for us this year.”
