Michael Oldfield joins the Rabbitohs after stints with the Sea Eagles, Roosters as well as Catalans in the English Super League.
A talented outside back, Oldfield will be looking to make a South Sydney wing or centre position his own in 2016, competing alongside the likes of Alex Johnston, Kirisome Auva’a, Bryson Goodwin and a host of others for a spot.
In 25 NRL games and 44 in the ESL, the man affectionately known as ‘Oldy’ has an impressive strike-rate when it comes to scoring points – the new Rabbitoh having scored 15 tries in the NRL and 29 in the UK.
Since arriving at Redfern in the early stages of 2016 pre-season training, Oldfield cited that he felt very much at home at his new Club.
“It’s been an easy transition so far,” said Oldfield to Rabbitohs.com.au upon his arrival.
“I was pretty nervous coming back into a new Club – it’s like starting over.”
But that clean slate may be just what Oldfield needs. In his 2016 Player Profile, Oldfield states his desire to be a regular first grader as being his main goal in Rugby League.
