Souths Cares' Gift of Giving campaign recently made its ways to South Sydney High School when students were given the chance to meet with Australian Ironwoman, Tara Coleman, and share a healthy breakfast.

Souths Cares General Manager, Brock Schaefer, said the visit by Tara was just one way that Souths Cares was giving-back to community.

“South Sydney High School and Souths Cares share a really good relationship,” said Brock.

“We’re both about helping our students to achieve their dreams, so having Tara share her sporting dreams and achievements in an inspirational way was a real benefit to the students.

“Given that Tara is an outstanding, female role model, Souths Cares arranged with the School to have their Year 9 and 10 girls involved in the session.

“The students joined Tara in an NRL Dream Believe Achieve session which is designed to encourage students to explore their own aspirations.

“Tara provided the students with in insight in to having a dream, how to set personal goals and stay inspired.

“During the session the students shared their own dreams for the future and what steps they were taking to reach them.

“Importantly, the students themselves had a range of questions for Tara which meant that they had been listening to what she was sharing and reflecting on their own situation.

“It was great to witness the candid interactions between Tara and the students,” Brock said.

Brock also acknowledged and thanked South Sydney High School Principal, Robyn Matthews, for allowing Souths Cares to deliver the motivational session and to teacher, Jenny Wilson, for supporting the students on the day.
