If Kyle Turner has taken anything out of pre-season training so far, it’s the excitement of knowing that he and his teammates are all in it together.
Now into their sixth week of pre-season training, Turner, along with his Rabbitohs teammates have thrown themselves into the slog with gusto as they prepare for the upcoming trial period and 2016 NRL season.
With a set of personal and team goals as their guiding light, Turner says that excitement is the backdrop to which pre-season training has been played out to.
“Pre-season has been great so far,” said Turner speaking to Rabbitohs.com.au.
“It’s been pretty exciting actually because I think we all have an idea of where we’re heading and the boys are all looking strong.
“The boys have knuckled down and ripped into the work and actually have really been enjoying it because we’ve been all together and doing it for each other.
“We’ve all sort of taken it upon ourselves to step it up and because of that, I think we’re all benefitting from it. I’d say we’re ahead of where we were this time last year.
“We just want to keep improving on that and setting the bar even higher now.”
But even first grade footballers need a rest during the Christmas break, and for Turner, that means returning to his home town of Coonabarabran before coming back to pre-season training again in the new-year.
“Yeah we’ll be going back to Coonabarabran this Christmas,” said Turner.
“We’ll be seeing my partner’s family and the rest of my family as well and just enjoying God’s country out there.
“I’m a country boy through and through and I love heading home to spend time with family – especially at this time of year.
“Just like any family at Christmas I think, we enjoy each other’s company, have a few drinks and cheers, and exchange gifts – it’s always great to be there.”
