Rabbitohs forward, John Sutton, has set his sights on the 2016 Auckland Nines tournament as the arena for his return from a leg injury, sustained at the back end of last season.

Should Sutton be selected by Head Coach, Michael Maguire, the Souths Junior will take his place for just  the second time in the reduced format tournament.

“I just started running last week,” said Sutton, whose broken leg saw him miss a handful of matches in 2015.

“Everything’s coming along good and I’m happy where I am at the moment.

“The boys have been training really hard and enjoying it.

“I’m pretty sure the boys can’t wait to get out there and play the Nines. I didn’t get to play last year, but if I get the call up I’ll be very keen to play.

“It’s a great weekend in New Zealand and the first time I played I really enjoyed it.”

Sutton’s selection for the Nines would add versatility to the side as they look to defend their Nines title – his ability to play in the halves or forwards standing as a major plus.
