Dave Tyrrell 2015 Player Review
South Sydney’s very own Superman, Dave Tyrrell, again played an integral role for the men in red and green in 2015.
After playing in every single match for the Club in their Premiership year of 2014, incredibly, Tyrrell nearly repeated the feat this season – missing just one game to take his total appearances to 24 during the year.
Standing at 184cm tall and 102kg, Tyrrell may not be the biggest prop-forward in the game, but whatever he loses in size, he more than makes up for with his determination to get the team over the advantage line with his consistent performances, spurred on by playing alongside the likes of fellow workhorses, Thomas and George Burgess and Tim Grant – among others.
Tyrrell’s vital try against the Bulldogs on Good Friday helped to spur his side on to eventually take a single-point victory on the day, while also grabbing a four-pointer against eventual-Premiers the North Queensland Cowboys a week later at ANZ Stadium.
Tyrrell made a total of 1783 metres with the ball off 209 runs, while also proving himself effective in defence by completing 509 tackles. Tyrrell’s hit at Brookvale Oval against Manly in round 22 ranked as one of the hits of the year.
