Former Rabbitoh and Souths Cares ambassador, Beau Champion, headed to Macquarie Fields this morning for some Rabbitohs School Holiday fun & activities at the Macquarie Fields Indoor Sports Centre Open Day.
Over 120 kids, enjoying their school holidays, were run through their paces by Champion during two hours-worth of league drills and skills, before being educated by Beau on important messages such as staying fit, drinking lots of water, eating healthy and getting enough sleep.
“The most important thing about Rugby League is that you have fun, and make new friends,” Beau explained to the excited group.
“It’s always great to get in and spend time with kids like this – they have plenty of fun and we get to talk about important things like staying active and keeping fit.
Asked if there were any future Rabbitohs among the excited group, Champion agreed that there was plenty of talent on show.
“I’m sure there were,” said a smiling Beau.
“Both the boys and the girls showed plenty of skill out there today and I think they learnt a lot as well that they can take away.
“But this is all about having fun, keeping the kids active and spreading a bit of red and green around.
“The Rabbitohs seem to be everywhere nowadays and to have this many kids from Macquarie fields wearing Souths jumpers and colours – it’s just awesome to see.”
